Academic Council is the University’s supreme academic deliberative and decision making body and is responsible for strategic oversight of all academic provision.

It reports to the Court of Governors and gives consideration to a broad range of issues that relate directly to the University’s academic direction and focus.

To assist in meeting its obligations and responsibilities, Academic Council establishes committees as it considers necessary to enable it to carry out its responsibilities.

Committees: Course Validation Standing Panel; Curriculum Review and Innovation Committee; Graduate School Board; Knowledge Exchange Committee; Research Committee; Student Experience Committee; and Teaching Committee

Academic Council is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor. Its membership includes 16 ex-officio members, 9 nominated or elected academic staff, and 2 currently registered students, nominated by the Students’ Union.
