Peter Bonfield

Welcome from the Vice-Chancellor

Our University has a long and proud history of international collaboration and global engagement from our research partnerships, colleagues, students and alumni from across the world, relationships with global universities and providing inspirational and practical travel opportunities for our students.

The recognition that Westminster is among the top 15 most international universities in the world for the percentage of international students (Times Higher Education’s International Student Table), in addition to being ranked in the top 30 in the world for ‘International Outlook’ (Times Higher Education Young University Ranking, 2017 and 2018), is a testament to our commitment to global engagement.

We are home to a cutting-edge teaching and research environment and a leading practice-focused institution. Throughout our long history, we have welcomed students from all walks of life from all over the world into a university community committed to academic excellence, cultural engagement and personal enrichment. Our education experience expands outside the classroom and across borders. Students have access to one of the largest study abroad programmes, welcoming over 1,000 students each year from the US, Japan and across the EU. Exchange partnerships have led to more than 100 agreements with institutions across 26 countries, which provide opportunities for our students to study whilst gaining real international experience as part of their course. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of global citizens.

Our world-leading research, produced in partnerships with educational institutions and industry all over the world has real impact. From course modules that enable students to work with charities and develop social enterprises, to research pioneering new methods for large-scale forest fire-fighting, Westminster continues to change people’s lives at an international level.

Our future as an institution is truly global, as we ensure that our whole Westminster community of colleagues, students and alumni are ‘global citizens’, who can engage with and help shape the future of the world.
