Quarantine and COVID-19 tests
Quarantine advice and support
Our Quarantine Support Team can offer advice and support if you are:
- arriving in the UK to start your studies and need to follow UK Government self-isolating requirements
- required to self-isolate due to a positive COVID-19 test result, or because you are a close contact of someone who has had a positive test result
Our Quarantine Support Team can provide advice on practical issues such as obtaining food deliveries, medication, laundry services and other essential provisions you may need during your period of self-isolation. Our team can also assist with:
- access to University wellbeing advisers and referral to other University support services
- liaison with your academic school if you need any adjustments to your studies
- access to online social activities organised by residential assistants and your Students' Union
For advice and support please fill out our Quarantine advice form or email [email protected] and our team will get in touch.
Coronavirus tests
Semester Two testing arrangements
If you're returning to or moving into residences in January, or are accessing a pre-booked activity on campus, you might be eligible for a free COVID-19 test.
Positive tests
If you have a confirmed positive COVID-19 test or have developed COVID-19 symptoms and have recently visited us, please let us know via [email protected] so that the University can support the NHS Test and Trace scheme to inform your recent contacts, in line with the University's personal data protection policy.
For information on how to get tested and general coronavirus information, please visit the NHS website.
Financial support
If you have financial concerns due to the current coronavirus situation you may be able to receive additional support from the University.
We've produced a financial advice and support page with useful information and guidance that may be helpful during this difficult time.

Teaching and learning
We have implemented a number of measures to support your learning and ensure you're able to continue with your studies confidently and effectively during this time.

International students and Tier 4 Visas
As a Tier 4 student, it is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the conditions of your visa, but we understand that in the current situation this can now be challenging.
Students' Union
Our Students’ Union are active members of our Being Safe, Feeling Safe team. They will be running online social and engagement activities with a focus on helping to keep and build social connections for our students and, when it becomes safe and practicable to do so, they will look to offer on-campus activities and events where Government guidance allows.
The Students’ Union is independent from the University and they are here to represent you and to support you. They have issued a statement on the commitments they are making to you, how they will represent you, and how they will ensure that the University delivers its commitments.
For more information, visit the Students' Union website.
