Broadcast Suite

Our Broadcast Suite, located on the ground floor of our Harrow Campus, is an industry- standard work and learning space, designed to give our students a realistic experience of working in the UK news and digital media industries.

Industry-standard suite for real-world media training

Redesigned in 2022, the suite was built to allow students to create video and online content, from interactive web pages to live television. The studio uses a professional production system, which gives students the opportunity to create and contribute to programmes both in the Suite and remotely. Put together by university staff and industry professionals, the facilities allow teaching and practical working to take place side-by-side.

The suite features a fully equipped TV news set with professional cameras and lighting, while the surrounding space is fitted with interactive touchscreens to create an immersive and engaging learning environment. In addition to TV and video production, the Broadcast Suite is designed for modern multi-platform journalism. Students can produce video, audio, podcasts, social media and online content simultaneously, reflecting the workflows used by many of the UK’s leading media organisations.

The Broadcast Suite is known as the Mel Williams Suite, in memory of Mel Williams. As the Head technician at our Harrow campus, Mel was pivotal in steering the creation of the space through from the initial idea to completion.
