Important changes in Immigration Rules April 2016

Applying in the UK for a Tier 4 visa extension

New restrictions mean that some students will no longer be able to apply for an extension for their Tier 4 visa inside the UK. This new restriction may apply to you if:

  • You have a visa for a 3 year undergraduate degree course but wish to undertake a placement year as part of your course. In this instance you will need to return to your home country to make a new visa application before you can start the placement
  • You are currently taking a placement year and will need to extend your Tier 4 visa to complete your final year. In this instance you will need to return to your home country to make this application
  • You have a visa for a 3 year course and need to repeat the first or second year of your course because you need to retrieve modules. You may need to return to your home country before the start of your final year to apply for a new visa to complete your course
