Watch Professor Tajalli Keshavarz (Faculty of Science and technology, Graduate Centre Coordinator) in an interview on BBC Persian where he describes his research area in microbial communication and its applications, and explains the philosophy behind his interest in science. The programme continues exploring his scientific ideas on communicating particles and his new approach to Persian poetry.

In a second BBC Persian interview, Professor Keshavarz introduces his outlook on Free Will or Determinism from the scientific perspective. He refers to the need for a “Third Way”, a fresh viewpoint to this old and complex topic. He introduces the “Fluid Will” concept in a timeless an ever-changing world of particles and universes.

A third talk by Professor Tajalli Keshavarz and Dr Jila Dana-Haeri takes a glance at Determinism and Free Will in Persian Mystic Poetry.

Entry requirements

Applying for a course

If you are interested in studying for a Bachelor's degree (eg a BA, BSc, BEng or LLB) at the University of Westminster, you will need to check that you meet our entry requirements.

We have included typical entry requirements below, but these are simply a guideline. Some courses may also have specific subject or grade requirements, which will be listed on individual course pages.

You will typically need to have one of the following:

  • College of Technology Diploma (2 years) (Peeshdaneshgahe) with a minimum score of 14
  • 3 year High School Diploma ( Diplom – Metevaseth / Nameh Dabirestan, Nazari or Fani Herfei) plus Konkur (National University Entrance Examination) with a high grade
  • Kardani associate degree with a minimum score of 14
  • a recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%
  • A Levels or International Baccalaureate – check our course pages for details
  • 4-year High School Diploma with a minimum score of 14

Degrees awarded by the University of Westminster are recognised by the Iranian Ministry of Education. A full list of recognised institutions can be found on the Ministry website.

Applying for a course

For entry to a Master's degree that requires a UK 2:1 degree, you will typically need to have:

  • a Bachelor's Degree (Licence or Karshenasi) with a minimum grade of 15.5

For entry to a research (PhD) programme, you will typically need to have one of the following:

  • a Master's degree
  • Karshenasi Arshad/Foghe Lisance (Master’s Degree) from a recognised university in Iran
