The Student Lifecycle Team provides education verifications for former students who studied undergraduate, postgraduate, or research courses at the University of Westminster.
We can verify:
- Course studied
- Dates of study
- Award details
- Authentication of University‑issued award documents
We cannot provide:
The Student Lifecycle Team is centrally based and does not personally know former students, so we cannot provide personal references.
Academic references must come from lecturers or professors who taught and knew the former student, as they comment on academic performance, character, and future goals. If you require a personal or academic reference, please contact an academic directly.
For more information, visit the Student references page.
For verification of a short course completed at the University of Westminster, please contact: [email protected].
Verification requests for current students must be submitted to the Student Centre, who will then forward them to the relevant Registry team.
Third‑party education verification requests for former students
Awarded from June 2022 – University of Westminster Verification Service (UoWV)
Please read the information below about our University of Westminster Verification Service for third parties and former students. Further information can be found in our FAQ’s. If you experience any problems using this service, please contact the Student Centre.
Employers, universities, and other organisations can:
- Register on the UoWV Service Portal.
- Request a connection with a former student.
- View verified documents once approved by the former student.
Alternatively, former students can invite a third party to connect with them.
Key points:
- Only documents that the former student authorises will be viewable.
- Documents are valid only when viewed in the portal.
- A £10 connection fee applies and is paid by the third party.
Former students may share verified award documents with third parties through the UoWV Service Portal. To create a connection, you’ll need:
- A registered UoWV Portal account.
- The third party’s email address
Once the connection is set up, you can choose which documents to share, decide how long the third party can access them (we recommend one month or less), and remove their access at any time. Please refer to our help guide below for further support on this process.
The connection fee is paid by the third party.
