Ceremonies 2020

Autumn ceremonies - postponed

Unfortunately, we've had to postpone the November Graduation ceremonies due to ongoing restrictions in place as a result of Coronavirus (Covid-19). The Southbank Centre which hosts our ceremonies, remains closed and will not re-open until Spring 2021. We will contact all affected graduates to provide them with further details.

Please be assured that this postponement does not affect the time frame for the completion of your studies.

Summer ceremonies – postponed

The University of Westminster took the difficult decision to postpone our July 2020 graduation ceremonies due to the ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. We intend to reschedule the ceremonies when it is safe and appropriate to do so. Those eligible will be notified once new dates have been arranged.

Please be assured that this postponement does not affect the time frame for the completion of your studies.

Ceremony information

The July and November ceremonies take place at the Royal Festival Hall.

On our web pages, you'll find all the information you need to prepare for your graduation ceremony, and will also find details of when you will receive your award certificate.

If you're unable to find the answer to your question online or you need further guidance, feel free to contact us at .

Watch Graduation Live

Graduation is a special day and we recognise that not all of your friends and family can attend in person so our graduation ceremonies are professionally filmed and broadcast live. Our live broadcast is hosted by Visions Unlimited and can be accessed on the Visions Unlimited website.

Cancellation policy

If the University has to postpone or cancel the graduation ceremonies due to reasons beyond our control, the University cannot be held legally responsible or contractually liable for any actual or alleged loss to its graduands and their guests. This includes, but is not limited to, travel, accommodation and subsistence costs or any loss of business or earnings. Graduands and their guests should ensure they have adequate insurance protection to cover any losses they may incur because of postponement or cancellation of graduation. Further information about unforeseen disruption can be found in our Student Terms and Conditions.

If graduation is postponed or cancelled, the University will communicate this via the graduation webpage and by contacting students who are eligible to attend.

Your invitation and tickets

You will receive your Graduation Ceremony invitation by email in your University email account. Once you receive this email, you will be able to book your place and purchase any guest tickets you require.

Find out more about your tickets and how to complete the booking process on our How to book page.

Special requirements

Both of our venues are fully accessible with spaces available for wheelchair users.

If you or your guests require a space for a wheelchair or have other special requirements, please indicate this when booking your tickets, as wheelchair seating is limited. A member of the ceremonies team will then contact you if necessary.

Visa support

We can provide you with a letter, which can be used in support of a visa application/extension for you or your guests. However, we cannot include your guests' names, as the university is not responsible for inviting them.

Please email your request to [email protected] no later than a month before the date of your ceremony.

The letter will confirm your eligibility to attend the ceremony and the date and time of the event. If you have reserved your tickets we will also include this information.

The letter will be emailed to you as a PDF document, a hard copy can be provided on request. Please note requests may take up to three working days to process.
