Friends of Arriving New Students
Our FANS (Friends of Arriving New Students) provide a personal welcome to new students at the University, helping them settle in and acting as their first point of contact for the first couple of weeks.
FANS are a vital part of our Great Start project, which brings together the University's colleges, the Students’ Union and Professional Services to deliver the best possible induction for new Undergraduate students.

Student ambassadors
As a student ambassador you will help with open days, attend higher education fairs at local schools and colleges, and deliver presentations to school pupils on topics relating to higher education. You will be required to attend briefing and tour training and at least one other training session as well as work at two internal and one external event.

Course Representative – Students’ Union activity
Course Representatives (Reps) provide a link between the students on their course, the University and Students' Union. During their year-long tenure, they will collect feedback, information and opinions from students on their course and raise these with Module Leaders and other relevant University staff.
In addition, they represent their peers at University committee meetings. They also work with the Research, Representation and Welfare Team (RRW) to improve and assess the educational experience of students. This will include participating in research on student satisfaction with their course, University and Union.
Course Reps will learn a range of leadership skills such as communication, influencing, research and campaigning skills.

Westminster Inspiration Network (WIN)
A Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) scheme, where students are trained to support or run study, training and mentoring sessions to support the needs of first-year and disabled students. You will be required to attend at least one training session. It is expected that you will volunteer 10–24 hours between September and April.

Sabbatical Officer Election Candidates – Students’ Union activity
Sabbatical Officer Election Candidates put themselves forward for election to become the leaders of the student body at Westminster.
Over 50 hours will be invested by the Officers. The Officers will undergo a two-week election process. They will design and articulate a manifesto, as well as recruit, brief, train and manage a campaign team. They will also attend two 'question time' events and be scrutinised by the Student Body.

Club Captains and Society Presidents – Students’ Union activity
Captains and presidents lead and manage Students' Union Sports Clubs and societies.
This is a year-long position. Captains and presidents are selected through a democratic process at the club/society annual general meeting.
Club captains and society presidents will be responsible for delivering relevant events, campaigns and activities for their club or society. Committee members will be required to attend at least 50% of non-compulsory employability workshops and refresher training throughout the year.
These leaders will be the main point of contact for their club/society. They will lead their committee and ensure its effectiveness. They will also recruit students to join their club or society.
