Digital accessibility is about ensuring that our ‘online estate’ can be accessed by as many people as possible, including people with visual, auditory, motor or cognitive disabilities, in exactly the same way as we adjust our physical spaces so that as many people as possible can access them.

Digital accessibility is relevant for everyone at the University. We are responsible for ensuring that the websites and intranet sites we own, and the content and documents we publish within these channels, are accessible to all.

We are working towards compliance with Digital Accessibility Legislation, that came into full force in September 2020. The work we all do to ensure that digital content is as accessible as possible will help with our wider commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and aligns with a core principle of our Education Strategy, namely the removal of barriers to success.

We have some assistive technology networked across the University. For advice on customising your devices and online environment to help you get the best out of technology, please see our Digital Accessibility Guide.

Colleagues are encouraged to complete the our e-learning module on digital accessibility, which gives an introduction to the importance of digital accessibility and guidance on how to create accessible content. Colleagues can also access further resources and advice on our digital accessibility intranet pages.
