About the project

The British Academy has announced nine new Knowledge Frontiers Symposia Follow-on awards to further develop early career international research partnerships, including Professor Nitasha Kaul, Director of the Centre for the Study of Democracy (CSD) at the University of Westminster.

Professor Nitasha Kaul, Director of the Centre for the Study of Democracy (CSD) at the University of Westminster, has received the prestigious Knowledge Frontiers award in 2023 from the British Academy. Nitasha, a Professor of Politics, International Relations and Critical Interdisciplinary Studies, is one of the nine national awardees recognised for her work on Kerala.

Professor Kaul will continue her work for the next 12 months on ‘Democracy, Ideology, and Political Dynamics in Kerala’, along with her overseas collaborator Dr Nisar Kannangara, at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) in Bengaluru, India. Funding Bodies

Funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the Knowledge Frontier awards build on and extend existing international and interdisciplinary research collaborations between UK-based SHAPE (Social Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts for People and the Economy) researchers and their colleagues overseas. In its press release, the Academy specifically highlighted the work on Kerala.
