The Graduate School provides free access to a webinar series for all doctoral researchers.

These webinars offer research and professional skills training in a live-taught format. You will find that they complement the tailored, interactive face-to-face workshops in the DRDP and will be particularly helpful to those following the Distance Learning study mode or those studying part time who cannot always attend workshops due to other commitments. These webinars take place between 7pm and 9pm in the evening.

Modules

There is a wide range of topics to choose from (42 sessions in total), which are organised into themed modules. You don’t have to attend a whole module, and are free to sign up for individual sessions from any module. As with the face-to-face workshops, some topics will be of more relevance at certain stages of your doctoral programme.

The full programme for the academic year 2019/20, instructions about how to book and information about the software you will need to download to take part in a webinar are set out in the booklet:

Webinar software

You must download the required software (Electa-live) and you must book in advance. The software is free to the user and can be accessed direct from the Electa website.

It can be downloaded to a PC, laptop, tablet, or even a smart phone. It is your responsibility to ensure you have the software ready in advance of the webinar. We recommend that you use a personal device because downloads to a University computer will require the University’s IT department to install it for you.

Booking

The webinars are extremely popular and waiting lists may operate. Please be considerate to those who may be on a waiting list and cancel in good time if you find that you are no longer able to take part.

Sessions running between 8th October 2019 and 21st January 2020 will be open for bookings from 7am on 17th September 2019.

Sessions running between 28th January and 26th May 2020 will be open for bookings from 7am on 10th December 2019.

Please be aware that in the first semester webinars are likely to fill up very quickly, but are repeated over the course of the year so there is more than one opportunity to access each of the webinars.
