Entry requirements

Applying for a course

If you are interested in studying for a Bachelor's degree (eg a BA, BSc, BEng or LLB) at the University of Westminster, you will need to check that you meet our entry requirements.

We have included typical entry requirements below, but these are simply a guideline. Some courses may also have specific subject or grade requirements, which will be listed on individual course pages.

You will be typically need to have the following:

  • 2-year Diploma from a recognised institution

For consideration for entry into Year 2 of Bachelor's degrees (Level 5), you will typically have to have the following:

  • Higher Colleges of Technology (higher diploma qualification with GPA above 3.0 may allow 2nd year entry on a case by case basis)

University preparation courses

Our partner college, Kaplan International College London, offers a Foundation Certificate leading to entry to a broad range of our Bachelor's degrees.

English language requirements

The English language requirements for our courses are provided on individual course pages as minimum IELTS scores.

For information about equivalent English language qualifications that are accepted by the University, please visit our English language requirements page.

Applying for a course

If you are interested in studying for a Master's degree (eg MA, MSc or LLM) or research programme (eg MPhil or PhD) at the University of Westminster, you will need to check that you meet our entry requirements.

We have included typical entry requirements below, but these are simply a guideline. Some courses may also have specific subject or grade requirements, which will be listed on individual course pages.

For entry to a Master's degree that requires a UK 2:2 degree, you will typically need to have:

  • Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with a minimum class of 2:2 and a minimum CGPA of 2.8/4.0

For entry to a Master's degree that requires a UK 2:1 degree, you will typically need to have:

  • Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with a minimum class of 2:1 and a minimum CGPA of 3.2/4.0

For entry to a research (PhD) programme, you will typically need to have:

  • a Master's degree

Note that postgraduate programmes at the University of Westminster are Approved by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education in the following areas:

  • Allied Health Professions (PG, PhD)
  • Architecture, Built Environment and Planning (PG, PhD)
  • Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory (PG, PhD)
  • Area Studies (PG)
  • Communication, Cultural and Media Studies (PG, PhD)
  • English Language and Literature (PG, PhD)
  • Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience (PG)
  • Politics and International Studies (PG)
