Entry Requirements

Applying for a course

If you are interested in studying for a Bachelor's degree (eg a BA, BSc, BEng or LLB) at the University of Westminster, you will need to check that you meet our entry requirements.

We have included typical entry requirements below, but these are simply a guideline. Some courses may also have specific subject or grade requirements, which will be listed on individual course pages.

For entry into Year 1 of Bachelor's degrees (Level 4), you will typically need to have the following:

  • HKDSE minimum 433 in electives and Level 3 in cores

For entry into Advanced Undergraduate programmes, you will typically need to have the following:

  • Higher Diploma Associate Degrees; minimum GPA 2.8

University preparation courses

Our partner college, Kaplan International College London, offers a Foundation Certificate leading to entry to a broad range of our Bachelor's degrees.

English language requirements

The English language requirements for our courses are provided on individual course pages as minimum IELTS scores.

HKDSE English grade 4 will is considered as CEFR B2 level and suitable for entry to degree programmes instead of IELTS. For information about equivalent English language qualifications that are accepted by the University, please visit our English language requirements page.

Applying for a course

If you are interested in studying for a Master's degree (eg MA, MSc or LLM) or research programme (eg MPhil or PhD) at the University of Westminster, you will need to check that you meet our entry requirements.

You will typically need to have one of the following:

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Students applying for  courses requiring a UK Second Class Upper degree will need a GPA of 3.0/4.0 (2.8/4.0 from prestigious universities) and those applying for a course requiring a UK Second Class Lower degree will need a GPA of 2.7/4.0 (2.5/4.0 from prestigious universities)
