New to the UK Sessions
Joining a university in another country can be both exciting and daunting. The University of Westminster organises activities for all our New to the UK students. In the weeks before your teaching starts there will be sessions specifically for our new international and EU students welcoming you to the UK and to the University of Westminster.
Our New to the UK sessions will help you meet new people and introduce you to living and studying in the UK. The sessions are an excellent opportunity to meet staff and students at the University before your courses start.
There will be workshops and presentations specifically for international and EU students with lots of useful information. These include talks from the police about keeping safe in London, Police registration for those that need to, Health care and vaccines, top tips for online study, information sessions on immigration and visas, the National Health Service and banking in the UK.
Who are the new to the UK Sessions for?
The New to the UK Sessions are for all international and European students, who are due to start a degree course at the University in September 2021 and for students who may have started their courses via distance learning and who have only just arrived or are coming shortly.
The New to the UK Sessions are not for Education Abroad or exchange students who are here for one semester/one year, as they will have their own orientation programme tailored to their needs.
When and where will the New to the UK Sessions be held?
The New to the UK Sessions will be online running from Monday 13 September and combining on 20 September with the Welcome Festival for both UK and overseas students. Last year the Welcome Festival was an enormous success; staff and students met up online to learn, play and enjoy time together before the hard work began! This year it will be even better and we hope you will take the time to join us.
