Welcome Festival for International Students
Joining a university in another country can be both exciting and daunting. The University of Westminster organises a free online Welcome Festival for all our new students, and there will be sessions specifically for our new international and EU students throughout.
The Welcome Festival is a three–day event. It will help you meet new people and introduce you to living and studying in the UK. The programme is an excellent opportunity to meet staff and students at the University before your courses start.
There will be workshops and presentations specifically for international and EU students with lots of useful information. These include talks from the police about keeping safe in London, information sessions on immigration and visas, the European Settlement Scheme, the National Health Service and banking in the UK.
There will also be Questions and Answers from students already studying at the University to help guide you through the challenges of arriving in the UK and settling in.
Who is the Welcome Festival for?
The Welcome Festival is for all students, including international and European students, who are due to start a degree course at the University in September 2020.
The festival is not for Education Abroad or exchange students who are here for one semester/one year, as they will have their own orientation programme tailored to their needs.
When and where will the festival be held?
The Welcome Festival will be online on Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16, and Thursday 17 September. You can see the full festival details on our Welcome Festival page.
How do I book my place on the International Student Welcome Programme?
There will not be a booking system this year, but you can visit our Welcome Festival page for the full details of all events and how to join the sessions.
Although sessions for all students will be running on 15 and 16 September, there will be online sessions particularly designed for students new to the UK on Thursday 17 September.
Please remember the time-zone in the UK at the moment is British Summer Time. To help you with organising your time you can use a time converter.
