You can print, photocopy or scan using a single device known as a Multi-Functional Device or MFD. These devices can be found in our libraries and in the computer rooms around the University.

You can print from the computers in our computer rooms, or from your own laptop or mobile device via WebPrint.

For information on copying limits and copyright, have a look at the Copyright Library Guide.

How do I top up my print credit?

We have a cashless payment system – each time you swipe your University ID card to collect your prints or photocopies, payment is deducted from the account on your card.

Every student will be credited with some credit on their ID card dependent on their own circumstances. This will happen by week 3 of teaching.

The Print Portal is where you'll be able to:

  • add funds to your print account
  • check your print balance
  • see recent print jobs
  • check printing costs

The print service offers smart printing so documents with colour and black/white pages will be charged at the relevant price automatically. The printer will only print in colour if the Print Properties for the printer is set to colour. If there are black and white pages within a document that is sent to print as colour, you will be charged for black and white for those pages. In order to print in colour, you need to set the printer within the Print Properties.

Before you send jobs to print you can also choose printing options that will save paper and your printing costs. By default, printing is set to black and white double-sided.
