Finalists
Hannah Neaves
Commercial Music BA, 2001
Hannah Neaves is President of Universal Music Recordings, the catalogue division of Universal Music UK. Hannah has worked with the likes of Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Ellie Goulding and James Blake among many others during her 23-year career in music.
She joined the industry as an intern at EMI before rising to Head of Artist Development at Polydor, then spending several years as Marketing Director at Atlantic Records where she worked on Ed Sheeran’s Divide album campaign.
Hannah then made the switch to artist management, joining TaP Music as Head of Artist Development & Marketing, overseeing the album marketing and creative for Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, before returning to Universal.
She has overseen significant changes in her time at Universal including overseeing the growth of Black Story, an initiative to honour Black Musicians who have historically impacted British culture.
Md Anwar Hossain Mridha
International Journalism (Broadcast) MA, 2003
Over the past three decades, Anwar has served Bangladesh Betar with a deep commitment to public service broadcasting, education, and community engagement. As a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Information Cadre), he contributed to strategic planning, policymaking, and producing impactful programs on women's and children's rights, adolescent welfare, climate change, and disaster preparedness. During national emergencies, Anwar led broadcasting efforts to deliver life-saving information to vulnerable communities and integrated climate awareness into regular programming, transforming Bangladesh Betar into a platform for resilience and action.
Alongside broadcasting, Anwar pursued academic research, completing two postgraduate theses (one on eco-friendly mosquito control and another on editorial independence), and published ten research articles and several books on culture, music, and media. He also edited some publications documenting Bangladesh’s rich folk and musical traditions.
Beyond broadcasting and academia, Anwar has led professional associations and remains actively involved in scientific and alumni organisations.
Monwara Ali
Law LLB, 1997
Monwara Ali is CEO of Waltham Forest Community Hub, a grassroots charity dedicated to empowering marginalised communities. Her impact extends beyond the UK through her role as Director of Stow Inspire CIC, transforming lives in poverty-stricken areas of Bangladesh.
Together with her Co-Founder Parvin Karim, she helped convert 11 shelters into safe, permanent homes for single mothers and children living in extreme poverty. In December 2023, she launched a sewing class in the village of Hazi Nager to teach young women life skills for financial independence. A year later, with no external funding and only land worth 50 Lacs, she donated the land to create a Learning Institute for Women, an ambition set to change the lives of hundreds of women. To support this, she led a fundraising mountain climb in Austria in May 2025.

Rob Alan Hammond
Psychology BSc, 1995
Rob is a Personal Development Consultant, who began his career working for a homeless charity delivering employment training to young people across the UK and in Dublin. He then established a counselling practice working exclusively with LGBTQ+ clients. After training as a coach, he worked with national charities including Crisis, Oxfam and the Royal College of Physicians delivering interpersonal skills courses and ED&I programmes. He also worked on a national programme for Every Child Matters and Sure Start.
In 2011 he was invited to deliver low-cost therapy to clients living with HIV. He established a voluntary Peer Mentoring service, training volunteers as mentors, for an HIV charity in Brighton. He then worked with a national HIV charity delivering workshops for their National HIV Conference. After 14 years Rob still works two days a week for the small HIV charity as a psychotherapist for a minimal fee.
