Available study spaces on campus

Teaching spaces available for study

The University has launched a new service that allows you to see what teaching spaces are not currently booked for teaching and available for you to use as a quiet study space.

You are welcome to use these spaces for private or small group study, provided they are available. Please bear in mind that this is not a booking system, which means there may already be fellow students using the room.

To ensure shared spaces can be used safely by all, always follow our guiding principles detailed at the bottom of this page.

How to check if a room is available

To check if a space is available, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit the timetabling site
  2. Log in using your university username and password
  3. On the right-hand side of your timetable, go to the Toggle Timetable List icon next to the printer symbol.
  4. Click the icon and the option to "Add" timetables will appear at the bottom of the screen
  5. Press "Add" and select "Room" from the tabs in the new window
  6. Select your campus, building and room you would like to check
  7. The room’s timetable and booked slots will be added to your existing timetable
  8. Press "Save" if you wish to keep the room’s timetable for when you next log in

You can hover over the blocks of the booked times to see the details of the booking, including the type of event being held and contact for the owner of the booking.

Receptions, library desks, the Library and Student Centre and the Student Hub live chat have the schedule of space and can also help direct you to available rooms and areas for study outside the library.
