Nourish to Flourish is a co-created intervention programme the University of Westminster co-led by Dr Raysa el Zein, Dr Xanthi Maragkoudaki and Justin Haroun that empowers young people through nutrition, physical activity, mental wellbeing, and social media awareness.
The programme supports children and families by promoting positive attitudes towards food and health through engaging, evidence-based workshops delivered in schools and community settings. Activities are co-created and facilitated by university students and academics, helping to build trust, increase engagement, and ensure relevance to local communities.
Students leading the programme receive training in health promotion, workshop facilitation, safeguarding, and community engagement. Through delivering sessions, they develop valuable skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, and public engagement, while gaining real-world experience that enhances their employability and professional development.
Co-created by students and academics, Nourish to Flourish has expanded internationally through collaborations with Beirut Arab University and the World Health Organization in Lebanon, demonstrating the impact of student-led approaches to improving health and wellbeing.
