Guest tickets

Graduand tickets are free but you must confirm your attendance by completing the booking task in the student portal.

Guest tickets are purchased through the Booking Task and cost £27 per person.

Guest tickets for children aged 5–12 are free, however all children aged 5–12 must have a guest ticket or they will not be allowed access to the auditorium. Children’s tickets are included in your overall ticket allocation.

All children aged 4 and under do not require a ticket and are not included in your ticket allocation. They will need to sit on the lap of a ticketed guest as they will not be allocated a seat in the auditorium.

Guests (up to the age of 16) are welcome to attend graduation if they are always accompanied by an adult, other than the graduate.

Graduations are formal occasions and can feel quite long for very young children. Childcare facilities are not available at the venue.

You must reserve your tickets before the booking deadline. The number of tickets available for purchase will be confirmed in your invitation email.

If you wish to change the number of guest tickets you require, you will be able to do this in the booking task. However, once you have paid for your tickets, no further changes can be made.

Guest tickets are non-refundable so please check the number you have requested carefully before making payment.

Gown hire

Wearing an academic gown is advised for all our graduands but is not compulsory. We recommend that you order your gown no less than two weeks before your ceremony.

Ede & Ravenscroft are our approved supplier. If gowns are ordered through Ede & Ravenscroft, they will be available for collection from the ceremony venue on the day of your graduation.

For more information about collecting your gown, see our On the day information

The cost of hiring your gown will depend on your level of award, the costs listed below are for guidance only and may vary.

  • Undergraduate - £45.00
  • Postgraduate - £51.00
  • Research - £58.00

You should be aware that if you fail to order your gown by the closing deadline you will need to arrange hire on the day of your ceremony at the venue. This will cost significantly more and Ede and Ravenscroft cannot guarantee that they will have the correct size and gown for you.

If you have any queries once you have hired your gown, you can contact Ede and Ravenscroft.

Please note that the University has entered into a concession contract with Ede & Ravenscroft and receives commission from the hire and sale of academic dress, which is used to offset some of the costs of graduation.

Ede and Ravenscroft will be present at the venue on the day of your ceremony for the collection of academic dress, and for ‘on the day’ hire if you have not ordered in advance of the deadline.

If you prefer, you can hire your academic dress with a third party supplier, however, please note that not all third party suppliers may be able to supply the correct academic dress which corresponds with your award at the University of Westminster, and no third party suppliers will be present at the venue on the day of your ceremony.

There is no dress code for your guests, but as the ceremony is a formal occasion, we would recommend all guests wear smart attire.
