What's covered in the course?

Microsoft Office Word 2016/2019

Successful candidates for the Microsoft Word 2016 exam will have a fundamental understanding of the Word environment and the ability to complete tasks independently.

They will demonstrate the correct application of the principle features of Word 2016 by creating and editing 2- to 3-page documents for a variety of purposes and situations.

Document examples include professional-looking reports, multi-column newsletters, résumés, and business correspondence.

Microsoft Office Excel 2016/2019

Successful candidates for the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 2016 certification exam will have a fundamental understanding of the Excel environment and the ability to complete tasks independently.

They will know and demonstrate the correct application of the principle features of Excel 2016.

Candidates will create and edit a workbook with multiple sheets, and use a graphic element to represent data visually. Workbook examples include professional-looking budgets, financial statements, team performance charts, sales invoices, and data-entry logs.

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2016/2019

Successful candidates will have a fundamental understanding of the PowerPoint environment and demonstrate the correct application of PowerPoint 2016.

Candidates create, edit, and enhance presentations and slideshows. Presentation examples include professional-grade sales presentations, employee training, instructional materials, and kiosk slideshows.

Microsoft Office Access 2016/2019

Successful candidates for the Access 2016 exam have a fundamental understanding of the application’s environment. They understand basic database design principles and are able to complete tasks independently. They know and demonstrate the correct application of the principle features of Access 2016, and will demonstrate the ability to create and maintain basic Access database objects including tables, relationships, data entry forms, multi-level reports, and multi-table queries.

When can I start these courses?

You can enrol on an online course at any time. Courses are all completed through self-study via Blackboard and LinkedIn Learning. Once you complete the relevant training, you must take a mock exam to prepare for the final exam. Upon successfully passing the mock exam, you will be able to sit for the final exam. Dates for these exams are announced on Blackboard and you will receive notifications for this once you are enrolled on the module. There are no fees for the exam or training, but places are limited each year and exams are scheduled monthly.

What happens in the final exam?

Exams are all held onsite in Marylebone (unless stated otherwise). Exams are task-based using a live software environment. The test itself lasts 50 minutes and is based on what you’ve learnt in your training. Please note that you will need to pass the mock exams and provide evidence before you are allowed to take the real exam.
