LinkedIn Learning gives University of Westminster students and staff free access to thousands of online courses. You can use it to build skills for study, teaching, research, work and personal development.
You can explore courses covering a wide range of topics, including:

- personal effectiveness, wellbeing and career development
- leisure interests such as photography or learning a musical instrument
Interactive learning features
LinkedIn Learning includes interactive features as well as video courses. You can use hands-on practice to develop technical skills, try AI-powered role play to practise conversations, presentations or project pitches, and access certification preparation, including practice exams for companies such as Adobe, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services. Some courses support professional development and help keep your certifications current.

You will need your University username and password to log in.

Do I need to connect to my LinkedIn profile
No. You can use LinkedIn Learning with your University of Westminster login without connecting it to a personal LinkedIn profile.
After you log in, LinkedIn Learning may give you the option to connect your University LinkedIn Learning account to your personal LinkedIn profile. This is optional.
If you choose to connect your profile, LinkedIn may use your LinkedIn information to personalise course recommendations, for example by suggesting content based on your interests, role or network.
If you choose this option, you'll be asked to log in to LinkedIn (if you are not already logged in) and accept the terms and conditions.
Other ways to access LinkedIn Learning
From the LinkedIn Learning homepage:
- Go to: www.linkedin.com/learning
- Click on the “Sign in” link
- Select ‘Sign in with your organisation account’
- Enter your university email address to initiate your login
- This may take you to the University of Westminster login screen, where you can enter your university username and password
To access from your LinkedIn profile (returning users):
- Go to www.linkedin.com
- Click on the ‘Learning’ icon. This may take you to the University of Westminster login screen
- Enter your University username and password
Your email address is used to initiate the University's single sign-on system; it is not retained by LinkedIn Learning.
Using the mobile app
The LinkedIn Learning app is available for free from the App Store or Google Play. The app is optimised for mobile devices and allows you to download courses to watch offline.
To use the app, follow these steps:
- Go to the App Store (Apple) or Google Play and download the LinkedIn Learning app. Note that this is separate from the LinkedIn app
- Open the app to see the sign-in options
- Select "Sign in with your organisation portal"
- Type westminster.ac.uk
- Select "Sign in with your organisation portal" again
- Tap continue
- You should get the University of Westminster sign-in screen. Now enter your university ID (e.g. w1234567) and password and select "sign in"

Who can use LinkedIn Learning?
LinkedIn Learning is available free of charge to all current University of Westminster students on UK based programmes and to staff directly employed by the University.
Student accounts remain active until completion of studies or until the University ceases to subscribe to the platform. Staff access is available while directly employed by the University.
Accounts are not available to alumni, students or staff at associate colleges, or at TNE partner organisations.
Privacy and data
What the University can see
When you use LinkedIn Learning through the University of Westminster licence, the University can access and retain information about your LinkedIn Learning activity. This may include details such as courses viewed, courses completed and other learning activity connected to the University account.
What LinkedIn receives
When you create or access a LinkedIn Learning account through the University licence, your university username is shared with LinkedIn. If you sign in through the LinkedIn Learning homepage, your university email address may be used to start the single sign-on process.
Connecting a personal LinkedIn profile
Connecting a personal LinkedIn profile is optional. If you connect your profile, some profile information may be visible to the University, such as your name, work title and profile photo. LinkedIn does not give the University access to private activity from your personal LinkedIn account, such as your connections, private messages or job search activity.
Where your data is stored
LinkedIn states that its data centres, which store members’ information, are currently located in the United States. LinkedIn also states that it relies on safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses, where applicable, for international data transfers.
