About the centre
The Centre for the Study of the Production of the Built Environment (ProBE) is a cross-school research centre between Westminster Business School (WBS), the School of Architecture and Cities (A+C), and the School of Social Sciences.
ProBE is concerned with the critical study of the production of the built environment as a social, environmental, and historical process, what this means for labour, communities, cities and nature, and finding innovative ways to construct a just, inclusive and sustainable society.
Our work
ProBE’s research is organised into six areas:
- Capital and labour relations in the production of the built environment
- Climate change, society and environmental design
- Equality, diversity and inclusion in construction
- Oral and other histories of the production of the built environment
- Sustainable urban settlements and low carbon construction
- Vocational education and training in the built environment
