The What It Takes series is targeted at current students and recent graduates and features a range of exciting and innovative alumni speakers sharing their experience on an array of topics. The event also focuses on employability, personal and professional development.

The panel was chaired by Dr Deborah Husbands, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Westminster, and comprised of Karl Donaldson, a Psychology BSc alumnus who is now a Manager Employment Trainer from Wipers Youth; Natasha Ramachandran, also a Psychology BSc alumna and current PhD student at Westminster; and Caron Bradshaw OBE, alumna of the Law LLB course, who is now Chief Executive Officer of the Charity Finance Group (CFG).

During the event the panel discussed the definition of Impostor Syndrome, its common triggers, and its occurrence and affects in the workplace and higher education. This was then followed by a Q&A session.

Around 90 students and recent graduates attended the event, with one participant calling it “an eloquent and well-presented panel event”.

Another participant added: “The speakers did a wonderful job of having a discussion on impostor syndrome and how to overcome the notion of feeling like an outsider.”

Speaking about the event, James Huke, Alumni Relations Officer said: “I would like to thank the alumni panel for their honesty and insight on impostorism. It was a very engaging discussion and it flowed so well. Finally, I would also like thank the students, recent graduates and colleagues who attended the event. There were some excellent questions put to the panel and we hope to see you at future What It Takes events in 2023!”
