When on campus
- dial 0203 506 4558 from your mobile
- dial 5555 from a campus landline phone
- visit the reception desk
We recommend calling 5555 (or 0203 506 4558 from a mobile) in the first instance. This ensures that trained first aiders or on-campus colleagues can respond quickly - whether it's for a fall, fainting episode, panic attack or other non-life-threatening incidents. If emergency services are required, the University switchboard team will liaise directly with them and provide precise location details to avoid delays.
If it’s immediately clear that someone is experiencing a life-threatening emergency (such as a heart attack or stroke), do not delay - call 999 directly. And remember to contact Reception, so they know where to direct the emergency services once they arrive.
You can also contact NHS 111 online, via the NHS app or by calling 111 if you need urgent medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation. You can find out more on the NHS 111 page.
NHS crisis support is available 24 hours a day on free phone 0800 0234 650 (Urgent Mental Health Support).

When off campus
If the accident or emergency occurs outside the University then you should go to the Accident and Emergency Department or Minor Injuries Unit at your nearest hospital.
Call 999 for an ambulance for emergencies such as loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, serious accidents or serious loss of blood.
Call NHS 111 if you need urgent medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation. This is a new service from the NHS and you can find out more on the NHS 111 page.
