Here you can find out how to take the IELTS exam at the University of Westminster. We are the second-largest IELTS testing facility in the UK and our exam centre is based in central London, only a few minutes' walk from Oxford Circus.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is recognised as a secure, valid and reliable indicator of true-to-life ability to communicate in English for education, immigration and professional accreditation.
Last year, more than 2 million people took the tests all over the world. IELTS is globally accepted as evidence of English language proficiency by over 9,000 organisations.
About the IELTS test
IELTS test takers can choose between two versions of the test – Academic (AC) or General Training (GT) – depending on their academic or professional aims, or their visa requirements. All candidates take the same listening and speaking components, but different reading and writing components.
We are the second-largest IELTS testing facility in the UK and deliver the IELTS test to 7,000–8,000 candidates each year.
We offer the IELTS test on three Saturdays per month throughout the year. All four test components, including the speaking test, are held on the same day, in the same place. We provide comfortable and friendly exam conditions, and our wall-mounted speakers give a better quality of sound during the listening test.
What our candidates say

"If I was to do it again, I would do it at the same place. Everything was very well organised."
