About the centre
The Destinations and Experiences Research Centre (DEX) brings together researchers with expertise in tourism, events, leisure, sport, hospitality, heritage and museums. Our work explores these important sectors, their impacts and the way they intersect. This approach, and our focus on places/spaces, means we move beyond conventional analyses of tourism and events to examine destinations and experiences. These founding principles have influenced the name of our Centre, and the research approaches we use. Our research is inter-disciplinary: members of DEX work within and between management and marketing, sociology, psychology, geography and urban design. We produce impactful work that explores how to create more accessible, more responsible and more inclusive destinations & experiences.
