World-leading Nutraceutical ingredients supplier partners with the Centre for Nutraceuticals to for a first of its kind nutraceutical clinical trial

Gencor Pacific Ltd is a Hong Kong-based company and a global leader in patented and scientifically validated nutraceutical active ingredients used by market-leading nutritional supplement brands worldwide.

This project, led by Prof. Zariwala, conducted ground-breaking work in the field of iron metabolism and curcumin supplementation. It involved the conception, design, and execution of a large human clinical trial to assess the effect of iron and curcumin supplementation using a novel curcumin formulation. This study was the first of its kind and has helped Gencor Pacific Ltd to make commercial advancements in this area; in addition to resulting in high impact scientific outputs.

Energy company Equinor partnered with the University to optimise the nutrition of saturation divers

Energy company Equinor, one of the world’s largest offshore operators, has engaged the University to undertake a project to optimise the evidence-based nutritional guidelines for the health, wellbeing and performance of saturation divers. Dr Sanjoy Deb led the industry-led collaborative research project that involved the design and execution of a novel research project during a live diving operation in the North Sea

The strength in this project lies in the Centre for Nutraceuticals ability to develop international partnerships in academia and industry. This saw us work in close collaboration with the world-leading Barophysiology research group at the Norwegian University of Technology and Science, the University of Aberdeen and industry partners TechnipFMC and Equinor.

Lead Physician at Equinor who funded the project, Dr Olav Eftedal, said: “We believe that nutrition is a key factor for the divers’ performance and wellbeing in this environment. The purpose of the project is to increase knowledge of optimal nutrition for saturation divers and to find practical ways of implementing this knowledge in the daily diet. Our aim is that this project shall benefit both divers and the diving industry through improved health, wellbeing and performance.”

The Centre for Nutraceuticals teams up with world-class footballers to develop and launch a new range of supplements

Unity, a company founded by professional footballers and entrepreneurs Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Ozil partnered with Prof Mohammed Gulrez Zariwala to develop the new supplement range, U ULTRA. Led by Professor M Gulrez Zariwala, the Centre of Nutraceuticals provided scientific input into the formulation of the whole supplement range. Through our expertise in product development and nutritional science, the Centre worked with Unity to create a supplement range that contains the highest quality, clinically proven, highly bioavailable ingredients whilst ensuring the product would meet the rigorous testing standard needed for Informed Sport accreditation.
