The British Computer Society promotes and supports a diverse community of internet technology and digital professionals. Their annual e-sports competition is in partnership with Solent University and open for students in further or higher education. E-sports are video games played in a competitive organised format. Entrants were asked to submit a one-minute audio commentary made from playing or spectating a video game. These entries were then judged by the BCS Animation and Games Development specialist group panel.

Mustafe Ahmed submitted a commentary on an Overwatch video game tournament for the competition. He said: “I'm incredibly honoured to have won the Esports Commentary competition. It demonstrates my passion for both e-sports and commentary in various sports and games. For me, it wasn't just about commenting on the gameplay; it was about infusing every word, attitude, and instant of that analysis with personality.

“When the president of our game organisation and I organised the Overwatch tournament, we were hoping to bring together several teams for an exciting day of competition and rewards. I was ecstatic to be a part of the event as a commentator, and editing the one-minute clip for submission was both difficult and satisfying. This success solidifies my love for the worlds of esports and commentary alike.”

Senior Lecturer and Course Leader Markos Mentzelopoulos said: “The remarkable achievement of our recent graduate in achieving the first place at this year's BCS E-Sports Commentary Competition is a testament to the outstanding quality of education our Computer Games Development BSc Honours course at the University of Westminster offers.
