University of Westminster Radio and Television BA Honours alumnus Laurence Cawsey has won a BAFTA TV Craft Award for Multi-Camera Directing, recognising his work on Sky Sports’ coverage of Liverpool’s title winning victory against Tottenham.

Laurence was nominated alongside The Celebrity Traitors, Last One Laughing and VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember. The coverage captured Liverpool winning their 20th Premier League title in 2025 as they beat Tottenham 5-1 at home during manager Arne Slot’s debut season.
Laurence is Sky Sports’ Head of Football Team Operations and has been at the organisation for over 20 years. Beginning as an Associate Producer he rose through the ranks and has been involved in numerous iconic sporting events.
About winning the award Laurence said: “The University of Westminster TV Production degree gave me a real grounding in how television comes together, and the value of every role in the process. During my final year, I was already working evenings and weekends at Sky Sports, which turned into a full-time role after graduating, and I’ve been part of football production ever since. Sport directing is a real buzz, there’s no second takes, no post-production and you’ve only got one shot at it.
“This may be an individual BAFTA, but it’s a team game. A director is only as strong as the people around them, and I’m very lucky to work with a group of hugely talented specialists week in, week out.”
