‘What Comes Next’ is a course-aligned event series designed to support improvement in Westminster’s Graduate Outcomes, through raising awareness and confidence in the breadth of careers that are possible and accessible to students following the completion of their degree.

Operating across a variety of courses in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2021-22, the event series features panels of recent graduates who will share with current students their own stories regarding what they each did with their degree, and demonstrate a range of ‘highly skilled destinations’ for their career paths.

Two What Comes Next events took place for Westminster students in February, which featured recent graduates who shared their insights into the career journeys they had taken post-studies. They discussed how their experience at Westminster helped them discover their own interests and find employment after graduation, as well as shedding light on their own worries versus actual experiences of finding a job.

The first panel event took place on 9 February for second and third-year Psychology BSc Honours and Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience BSc Honours students, which welcomed over 30 student attendees. The panel included: Dr Sanjay Joban, Course Leader of the Psychology and Counselling BSc Honours; Hannah Araniello, a 2020 Psychology BSc Honours graduate who currently works as an Assistant Psychologist at the NHS; Jasmine McEwan, a 2019 Psychology graduate who currently works as a Customer Success Advisor at EMEX; and Sadman Islam, a 2018 Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience BSc Honours graduate who currently works as a researcher in Policy and Implementation Research at Cancer Research UK.

A panel event for students studying on Criminology BA Honours and Sociology BA Honours courses also took place on 23 February, with over 40 students in attendance. The panel included: Dr Lea Sitkin, Senior Lecturer and Co-Course Leader of the Criminology BA Honours; Rachel O’Connor, a 2020 Criminology graduate who currently works as a Document Reviewer at the Serious Fraud Office; Rania Joudi, a 2019 Sociology and Criminology BA Honours graduate who currently works as a Security Specialist at International SOS; and Natasha Choudary, a 2020 Criminology graduate who currently works as a Cyber Security Technology Apprentice at GSK.

Talking about the event, Dr Lea Sitkin said: “It's an absolute pleasure to see what interesting and important things our alumni are doing, and to give them a chance to share their experiences with our current students. I couldn't be prouder of our alumni. Undoubtedly, our current students will have a much better understanding of what they need to do to get the job of their dreams following this event. We look forward to putting on lots of events like this in the future together with the fantastic Alumni Relations Team.”
