Westminster Business School, Westminster Enterprise Network (WeNetwork), Westminster Council and the University of Westminster’s Entrepreneurship Society have worked together to hold Westminster’s Enterprise Festival, celebrating entrepreneurship, connecting students with businesses and fostering curiosity.

Levi Roots speaking at Enterprise Festival

On 14 November, the University of Westminster held the collaborative event which celebrated all things entrepreneurship and brought together students with business professionals to collect advice and wisdom about starting a business.

The event began with an exhibition where students, alumni and external founded business owners could meet aspiring entrepreneurs at Westminster and discuss all aspects of the world of business. The theme of the event was Let Your Curiosity Blossom and focused on the early stages of ideas and passions where students could find similarities between themselves and seasoned entrepreneurs to foster curiosity and inspiration.

The exhibition was followed by presentations from keynote speakers and a panel discussion. The keynote speakers were Levi Roots and Westminster’s Chancellor Natalie Campbell.

Natalie is the Co-CEO of Belu Water, an ethical drinks business that puts people and the environment first. Before joining Belu Water in 2020 she led on insight and innovation for The Royal Foundation and co-founded A Very Good Company (AVGC), a global social innovation agency that worked with brands, including Virgin Media, Marks & Spencer, W Hotels and Channel 4, to embed purpose and sustainability practices. She is a strategic advisor to several fast growth businesses in finance, hospitality and consumer technology and holds a number of public appointments and non-executive positions related to leadership and inclusive economic growth.

The festival concluded with networking and a fashion show, put together by the Entrepreneurship Society, designers and charity shop collaborators.

About the event Dr Irene Brew-Riverson, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader of Business Management (Entrepreneurship) BA, said: “The Festival was a testament to what collaborations between students, lecturers, the WeNetwork, our industry partners and Westminster City Council can achieve. The exhibition facilitated exposure for entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses and gave our students an excellent opportunity to network and learn about enterprise and entrepreneurship.

“Our speakers’ candid accounts of their entrepreneurial journeys both inspired and encouraged us to maximise the opportunities we are exposed to every so often. We are ever so grateful to the team, our senior managers who supported us and all our students and colleagues who made this very first festival a truly memorable occasion.”
