Who is this class for?
You should have a good basic knowledge of the Farsi language and its grammar.
- Part One is for you if you have already studied the Farsi language for approximately three years or 180 hours or equivalent
- You can join Part Two if you have studied Farsi for about 200 hours
- You can join Part Three if you will have studied Farsi for about 220 hours

Course structure
Our Farsi lessons follow a communicative approach to language teaching, focusing on the language you need to communicate in authentic situations with an emphasis on speaking and listening. Our evening classes are taught by experienced language teachers who are native speakers of the language or equivalent.
Please note that the distribution of course content across terms may vary from year to year. This is due to the variable length of terms in different academic years. There may also be slight content variations at the discretion of the tutor. We may, for example, include additional content when general progress is good, or vary content according to students’ interests.
Learning resources
We will use Colloquial Persian throughout the course. However, please wait until the first session before buying your course book.
In Part One of the Farsi Intermediate course, you'll cover the following topics and grammar:
Topics
In this term, we will cover:
- using polite titles
- talking about ailments
- making a major apology
- asking a chemist for medicine for a minor illness
- reporting what someone has said
Grammar
You will learn:
- importance of titles آقای / خانم دکتر احمدی آقای / خانم مهندس هوشنگی
- noun derivation سخت / سختی خسته / خستگی
- how to say: ‘I feel tired.’ احساس خستگی می‌کنم.
- parts of the body مو، صورت، گوش، ابرو، چشم ...
- more symptoms or conditions سردرد، دندان‌درد، گوش‌درد، گلودرد ...
- reported speech پیتر گفت (که) مریضم.
- more medicines دوا / دارو، شربت سرفه، آنتی‌بیوتیک ...
Part Two builds on what you learnt in Part One, covering the following topics and grammar:
Topics
In this term, we will cover:
- using polite words for giving and receiving gifts
- offering congratulations and best wishes on happy occasions
- sending your regards to someone
- expressing pleasant surprise
- suggesting a joint activity
- arranging to meet a friend
Grammar
You will learn:
- how to say: ‘first customer’ مشتری اول / اولین مشتری
- how to say: ‘Happy New Year / Birthday, etc.’ سال نو مبارک تولدت مبارک
- rules governing the use of ‘congratulations’ and ‘sending regards’ کفش نو مبارک! سلام برسونید.
- how to say: ‘Wish you had been there!’ جات خالی بود!
- how to say: ‘Long time no see / hear from!’ چه عجب از این طرف‌ها!
- ‘I’m sitting’ v. ‘I’m eating’ من نشسته‌ام. دارم می‌خورم.
- how to say: ‘Are you in the mood for football?’ حال فوتبال را داری؟
- how to say: ‘I went to see Ali yesterday.’ دیروز به دیدن علی رفتم.
Part Three is the final level of the Farsi Intermediate course, and covers the following topics and grammar:

In this term, we will cover:
- arranging a business meeting
- ending a telephone conversation or a personal call politely
- expressing disagreement
- using the Iranian calendar (week, months, seasons)
- talking about the skills or things you can or cannot do
- saying how long you have been doing something
Grammar
You will learn:
- how to say: ‘What can I do for you?’ چه فرمایشی دارید؟
- special use of که ke من که با این پیشنهاد مخالفم.
- the Iranian calendar: seasons and months بهار: فروردین، اردیبهشت، خرداد ...
- how to say: ‘Can you play tennis?’ تنیس بلدید؟
- how to say: ‘I’ve been learning Persian for 5 years.’ پنج ساله (که) فارسی می‌خونم.

Location and facilities
Most classes are held at our historic headquarters building at 309 Regent Street. This is a dedicated teaching building with purpose-designed facilities.
Our location near Oxford Circus means we're right in the heart of central London, with excellent transport links.
