The primary objective of the security group is to bring together expertise in education, research and practice in the field of information security and privacy. The group members conduct research in areas spanning from the theoretical foundations of cryptography to the design and implementation of leading edge efficient and secure communication protocols. Key areas of lab's technological expertise include design and development of practical cryptographic mechanisms and protocols in the following areas:

  • Private and secure e-voting schemes
  • Centralized and decentralized reputation systems
  • Security and privacy in cloud computing with a focus on trusted computing and secure storage
  • Privacy-preserving protocols in participatory sensing applications
  • Privacy-preserving schemes for e-Health applications
  • Security and privacy in internet of things and smart environments
  • Security in software defined networks
  • Vulnerability assessment and exploitation of existing protocols in the aforementioned areas.
