When you enrol, you formally become a University of Westminster student. Completing all parts of enrolment is essential for accessing your student loan, course materials and University resources.

How to complete your enrolment

When your place at the University is confirmed, you'll receive an email inviting you to enrol.

You'll then need to go through the following steps.

1. Submit your information

To start your enrolment, you'll need to log in to our online Applicant Portal and upload your personal information, identification documents and photo – you'll be given instructions within the Portal.

For information on setting up your password and how to get help logging in, visit our Applicant Portal help page

If you're an international student and you need help with your CAS, visa or have any other questions about your arrival in the UK, see our Enrolment for new international students page.

Your enrolment status

After submitting your information on the Applicant Portal, you'll have the status of 'Not enrolled', which means that your enrolment is in progress – we still need to check your information and, in some cases, invite you to an enrolment session on campus.

2. We'll check your details

University staff will check the information, photo and documents you've uploaded online.

In some cases (for all international students and some UK students) you may need to show us your documents in person at our Marylebone Campus – if you do, you'll receive an email with more details.

Your enrolment status

You may have the status of 'Temporarily enrolled' after this stage if you still need to show us your ID, visa or related documents. We'll let you know what we need from you. With this status, you'll still have access to our campuses, services, support and online systems. If we've reviewed your information and we have everything we need from you, your status will be 'Fully enrolled', meaning that you've completed your enrolment and you're an official student at the University of Westminster. You'll now have access to all our services, support and resources.

3. Collect your student ID card

You'll need to come to campus to collect your student ID card and attend your course induction.

Find your collection time slot and location on your course induction page:

Enrolment deadline

The final date to complete your enrolment is Monday 5 February 2024.

You will need to have your student visa if relevant, entered the UK on your student visa and attend our enrolment centre in person during our opening hours.

If you're having problems completing enrolment or are worried that you won't be able to enrol by the deadline, it's vital that you contact us as soon as you can.

If you miss the final enrolment deadline, you may lose your place on your course, so get in touch to discuss any problems you're having.

How do I pay my fees?

If the Student Loans Company will be paying your fees, you'll have the chance to upload your confirmation letter in the Applicant Portal.

If you're a self-funding student and you have not already paid your fees online, please complete payment as soon as possible.

For full details, including a secure payment link, information on instalment agreements and sponsorship, please visit our or email us at

I've not yet heard if I've got a student loan, can I still enrol?

Yes, but it's very important to be aware that if your loan application is refused, you will need to pay the fees yourself.

If you have any queries or concerns about this, contact our Library and Student Centre Team at [email protected] or via the live chat on this page.

I don't yet have my payment details in place. Can I still enrol?

Yes, but once you have submitted your enrolment details you will receive a message saying you now need to pay. You can pay securely online.

'Debtor Hold' is displayed in the Applicant Portal and I cannot complete my enrolment. What should I do?

Your tuition fees need to be paid when you enrol, but if you are experiencing difficulties financing your studies, get in touch with our Library and Student Centre Team at [email protected] or via the live chat on this page.

I have another question about fees or funding. Where can I get help?

You can find further information on our Fees and funding page, or contact our Library and Student Centre Team at [email protected] or via the live chat on this page.

When you've completed enrolment, you'll be able to use our self-service system to request an official letter confirming your student status.

Find out more on our Official letter requests page.

You should update your details through My Student Record.

Note that if you need to change your name, you'll have to provide relevant evidence to our Library and Student Centre Team at [email protected].

You may see your enrolment status referenced in emails and on the Applicant Portal – see the descriptions below to understand what each status means.

At each stage of the enrolment process, we’ll let you know what you need to do.

'Not enrolled'

You'll have this status after submitting your information in the Applicant Portal. This status means that your enrolment is in progress – we still need to check your information and, in some cases, invite you to an enrolment session on campus.

'Temporarily enrolled'

You may have this status if you still need to show us your ID, visa or related documents. We'll let you know what we need from you. With this status, you'll still have access to our campuses, services, support and online systems.

'Fully enrolled'

You have completed your enrolment and you are an official student at the University of Westminster. You now have access to all our services, support and resources.

If you have the status of 'Temporarily enrolled' and need to show us additional documents (eg your birth certificate, National Insurance number or Biometric Residence Permit), you can bring these to a late enrolment session on campus during teaching weeks one and two. Details will be added on this page nearer the start of term.

Alternatively, you can upload your documents in My Student Record. We'll then complete your enrolment from Temporarily to Fully Enrolled.

If you're a new student and you want to transfer course or withdraw, get in touch as soon as possible with our Library and Student Centre Team at [email protected] or contact the team via the live chat on this page.

Monday 5 February 2024 is the final deadline to complete your enrolment. You must have a student visa, have entered the UK on your student visa and be able to attend our Marylebone Campus in person on Monday 5 February.

You must have all the documents required to confirm your identity and your right to study in the UK available on the 5 February.
