Master of Architecture (RIBA Pt II)

I chose to study at the University of Westminster because of its strong studio culture and its location in London.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose to study at the University of Westminster because of its strong studio culture and its location in London. As a student from Myanmar, I wanted to study in an international environment where I could meet people from different backgrounds and connect with the wider architectural community.

Tell us about your experience of living and studying in London

I am a final-year Master of Architecture student. One of the most valuable parts of my experience at Westminster has been the opportunities beyond studio work. I represented the University at the London Student Sustainability Conference, where I presented my project and met students from other universities. Experiences like this helped me gain confidence, build connections, and understand how architectural conversations extend beyond university projects.

Westminster also has strong links to practice. Architects from outside the University are regularly invited to reviews, talks, and events. This makes the profession feel more immediate and helps with thinking about career direction after graduation.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

Studying in London means working alongside students from many countries. Students from Myanmar are still very few, so hearing from someone with a similar background can help make the transition to the UK feel more achievable. My advice is simple: go to events, talk to people, and use London as part of your learning.
