Real Estate BSc – 2026
I’ve really enjoyed how practical and engaging the Real Estate course has been.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
I decided on the University of Westminster because I already knew a few people who had studied Real Estate there, and they spoke highly of the support, guidance and quality of teaching they received. That kind of environment really appealed to me. I was also drawn in by the extracurricular activities, industry events, and the Westminster exclusive internship competitions the Real Estate course organises, especially those aimed at boosting employability—it felt like a place that not only offers a solid academic foundation but also prepares you well for the real world.
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
I’ve really enjoyed how practical and engaging the Real Estate course has been. It’s not just theory—we get to apply what we learn to real-life situations, which makes it feel much more relevant. I especially liked how some of our assessments were turned into presentations, as it helped build my confidence and prepared me for the kind of work I’ll be doing in the future.
One thing that really stood out to me is the exclusive internship competitions the course offers to top-performing students. Taking part in those gave me valuable experience and confidence, which helped me succeed in other internship applications too. It definitely prepared me well for the industry.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The support from lecturers has been great throughout my studies. They’re always approachable and willing to help, whether that’s during lectures or over email. You can tell they genuinely care about our progress and want us to succeed. Their feedback has helped me improve a lot, and the way they make the course interactive has kept me engaged and motivated.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
The course provides free access to platforms like CoStar, Digimap, and a range of core textbooks, which have been really useful for building a deeper understanding of key real estate topics. Having these resources available has helped with my coursework and research, and it’s great to have access to tools that are actually used in the industry.
Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?
I’ve made use of the University’s Careers and Employability Service by attending several events, both in person and online. Some of the sessions I found most helpful were focused on improving CV's and how to succeed in interviews. Attending these helped me feel more prepared and played a part in securing an internship in my penultimate year of studies.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course
In my second year, I was one of the top performers in my class for several modules, which gave me exclusive access to three internship competitions with Foxtons, Berkeley Group, and Savills. I had to compete against eight other top students for each one, with only one winner selected, and I was fortunate enough to win the Berkeley Group internship.
I also made it to the top 10 finalists for the 2025 Undergraduate of the Year Award for Social Mobility in Real Estate and the Built Environment, in partnership with CBRE. Even though I didn’t win, I was proud to represent the University of Westminster and to be recognised in a competition that celebrates future leaders who want to make the industry more inclusive and accessible.
Another standout experience was taking part in the Westminster Working Cultures trip to Mumbai. It was an amazing opportunity to experience working life in a completely different environment and to meet people from both India and the University who study a variety of courses. The trip really helped me grow, both personally and professionally, and pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
I’d say go for it. Westminster is a place that really supports you, both academically and personally. There are so many opportunities inside and outside the classroom, from networking events and trips to internship competitions, that help you grow and prepare for your career. If you’re willing to put yourself out there and make the most of what’s on offer, you’ll definitely get a lot out of it.
What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?
The best aspect of being a University of Westminster student is the amount of support and opportunities available. Whether it’s the lecturers who are always there to help, or the events and programmes that push you outside your comfort zone, you really feel like the university wants you to succeed. It’s a place that helps you grow both academically and personally.
What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?
The most surprising part of my Westminster experience was just how many opportunities there are outside of the classroom. I didn’t expect things like exclusive internship competitions, international trips like the one to Mumbai, and so many chances to connect with industry professionals. It really opened my eyes to how much the university does to support students beyond just the academic side.
