Music Production, Performance and Enterprise BA/BMus (now Music Production, Performance and Business BA)- 2022

Having a place to perform and practice a live set, available for students to use all week, is incredible. I wouldn't be at the musical level I am now without the practice rooms.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I felt that the lecturers offered a lot of extra support and care for their students. I was also impressed with all high-end equipment that was available to students to use during their studies.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

My course offered me the opportunity to gain a lot of experience outside the classroom. This I feel will help me to progress onto postgraduate study. The overall care that the lecturers give their students has been great. They offer many opportunities and responsibilities to those eager to get involved.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

Lecturers often share their personal experiences to help support you with your studies. This is helpful to hear and gain insight into both positive and negative experiences of the industry. However, there is a wide range of facilities and support available to all students, to help if you are struggling in any area.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

I tend to use the practice rooms four to five times a week. Having a place to perform and practice a live set, available for students to use all week, is incredible. I wouldn't be at the musical level I am now without the practice rooms.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

I am currently Course Rep for my year and I’m involved in helping to voice any issues that students are having both personally and academically. I am also the event organiser for the music department. I am responsible for putting on large shows in Area 51 (our student performance venue) every semester. I work very closely with the Students' Union on their live projects too, which will be running from our second semester onwards.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

There are loads of talented individuals studying alongside you and great facilities to support you on your projects. Make friends, create art and just have fun with it.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

The people! I wouldn't have had the experience I’ve had if it weren't for the people I am studying alongside. Whilst access to studios is great, nothing beats meeting up with one of your mates and creating a great song or supporting a performance.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

That it is all down to you. You do get support here, but it is up to you what you do with your three years. Get involved and see what impact you can make.
