Real Estate Development MSc – 2025

I have thoroughly enjoyed the practical and applied nature of the course.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose the University of Westminster because of its strong industry connections, practical approach to real estate education, and its prime location in the heart of London. The BSc in Real Estate provided me with a solid foundation, and continuing on to the MSc in Real Estate Development felt like a natural progression. The university's inclusive and supportive environment made me feel like I belonged from the very beginning. I have also benefited from real opportunities, such as networking events, career fairs, and international collaborations.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I have thoroughly enjoyed the practical and applied nature of the course. We dive into real deals, visit sites, and tackle the challenges that professionals face, rather than just studying theory. The group projects and international opportunities, especially our trip to Rotterdam, where we worked alongside students from across Europe to develop a real project, have been incredible experiences. These elements make learning not only relevant but also truly exciting.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic support at Westminster has been outstanding. The lecturers are approachable and genuinely invested in your success. Whether providing academic feedback or checking in on your well-being, they always make time for you. I even received a loan laptop from the university when mine stopped working, which highlights their commitment to supporting students not only academically but personally as well

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

We have excellent access to key industry tools like CoStar, EG Radius, and Argus, along with a comprehensive library filled with valuable databases, books, and publications. This sets a solid foundation for developing our professional skills. The well-equipped Marylebone campus, conveniently located in the centre of the action, allows us to engage directly with real-world developments and networking opportunities. Additionally, our involvement in the Real Estate Society has been instrumental in broadening our horizons; we regularly host guest speakers and foster a supportive community among students, which enhances our learning experience and professional connections.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?

I confidently took advantage of the University’s Careers and Employability Service, and it has been transformative for my journey. A highlight was my participation in the Career Mentoring Programme, where I was paired with an exceptional industry mentor. I am genuinely grateful for the invaluable guidance, encouragement, and insights I received, which significantly advanced my understanding of the real estate sector and boosted my confidence in my career direction. Our discussions illuminated the diverse pathways within the industry, empowering me to build a strong professional network and set ambitious yet achievable goals. This support was not just about career development; it also fostered my personal growth. Having a seasoned mentor to consult during times of uncertainty and transition made a powerful impact. In addition, the service excels in providing expert assistance with CV writing, interview preparation, and career workshops - all of which have been instrumental in sharpening my confidence and communication skills. I wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional resource to any student ready to take their professional journey to the next level.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

I had the pleasure of serving as the Vice President of the Real Estate Society this year after being president the year before. I organised some impactful events that brought students and industry professionals together. We had a great panel discussion on AI in Real Estate, took awesome site visits to RICS and Timber Square (Landsec), and hosted our Realty Connection networking event. These experiences helped me grow as a leader and created terrific opportunities for my classmates to connect and learn more about the industry! Year after being president the previous year. I’ve been responsible for organising impactful events that connect students with the industry - including a panel on AI in Real Estate, site visits to RICS and Timber Square (Landsec), and our Realty Connection networking event. These activities allowed me to build leadership skills, connect with professionals, and help create meaningful opportunities for fellow students.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

I say go for it! Don’t worry if you don’t have everything figured out yet. Westminster is a welcoming place where you can explore your strengths and boost your confidence. Take advantage of all the fun opportunities: join some societies, attend events, chat with your lecturers, and say yes to new experiences. You’ll be amazed at how much you can grow here!

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

For me, it’s the sense of belonging and opportunity. I’ve grown so much here - academically, professionally, and personally. Being part of a diverse, driven student body and a university that champions inclusion and ambition has really shaped who I am today. I also revived and led the Real Estate Society, which allowed me to connect students with industry professionals and leave a legacy I’m proud of.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

What truly amazed me was the exceptional support and empowerment engrained in the university environment. I entered with the expectation of strong academics but quickly realised the tremendous personal and professional growth I would achieve. Through active participation in the Career Mentoring Programme and the steadfast assistance I received during challenging moments - like when my laptop broke and the university promptly provided a loan - I've experienced unwavering support. Taking on leadership roles in the Real Estate Society strengthened my confidence and equipped me with essential skills that I mastered rapidly.
