Studying at Westminster offers unmatched global exposure and countless opportunities for their students.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
I chose the University of Westminster because it has a strong reputation in Project Management. A key reason for my decision was the opportunity to choose Product Management as an optional module, which focuses on new development proposals beyond the project lifecycle and aligns closely with my career goals. Additionally, the University’s programme is distinguished by its prestigious double accreditation from two leading professional bodies in the field: the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Association for Project Management (APM).
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
I studied Project Management, and I’ve particularly enjoyed how the course has improved my understanding of projects from a management perspective. One of the highlights for me was the inclusion of real-life projects in our assignments, which made the learning experience practical and engaging. The teaching was aligned with industry standards, which added great value. Coming from a background as a Project Engineer in the Automation Industry, I used to view projects mainly from a technical standpoint. This programme has completely transformed my perspective, helping me approach projects more strategically.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The academic and lecturer support has been excellent. The staff were always approachable and willing to help, whether during lectures, office hours, or via email. Their guidance and feedback made a real difference in helping me understand the material and stay confident throughout the course.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
One of the standout features of the course is the opportunity to earn industry-recognised certifications such as the AgilePM Foundation and PRINCE2. These certifications add significant value to the programme and help strengthen our professional profile in the field of project management.
Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?
I have used the University’s Careers and Employability Service, and it was a very helpful experience. They provided support with CV writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies, which really boosted my confidence.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course (e.g. course related trips, study abroad, sports clubs, societies and any competitions)?
Outside of my course, I had the opportunity to visit Edinburgh, where we met MSc Strategic Project Management students from Heriot-Watt University. Highlights included visiting the Falkirk Wheel, The National Robotarium (where we interacted with the humanoid robot Ameca), and a session on the Edinburgh Tram project led by Rob Leech. We also toured the Scottish Parliament, which offered great insights for project management students.
Additionally, I was elected as the Women’s Delegate for the National Union of Students, receiving the highest number of votes an experience that strengthened my leadership and representation skills.
