I thoroughly enjoyed the diverse range of modules offered on the course, which gave me the opportunity to explore various aspects of the creative industry and discover the area I wanted to specialise in. The gallery visits throughout my three years were both enjoyable and insightful. Also, the specialist talks from creatives across different disciplines, as well as alumni, were inspiring and provided valuable insights that influenced my projects.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
When researching Illustration degrees, I was immediately drawn to Westminster due to the extensive range of facilities and studio spaces. I was particularly inspired by the diverse portfolio of alumni work, which showed me that the university would offer the freedom to experiment with various styles and techniques, helping me discover my creative identity within the industry. Additionally, the employability resources, support and opportunities available further solidified my decision to choose Westminster.
How has your experience been studying in London?
Studying in London has been a great experience. The city provides countless opportunities that not only enrich your studies but also offer plenty of options for leisure and fun.

How have you found the academic/ lecturer support as part of your studies?
The academic support on my course has been great. The tutors were easily accessible, offering both in-person and email assistance. We had regular individual and group tutorials where we received valuable feedback on our ongoing projects, which motivated me to push my work to its highest potential. Additionally, there were many other support resources available to help with any issues, both academic and personal, that I was facing.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
The Illustration studios were excellent, spacious and equipped with a wide variety of media to experiment with. Throughout different modules, I had the opportunity to use other facilities, including the stop-motion studio, photography studios, and printmaking studios, each enhancing my creative process.
Have you used the University Careers and Employability Service?
I took advantage of the Careers and Employability Services offered by the University. I completed both the Westminster Employability Awards and the Enterprise Award. Additionally, I utilised the careers advice services to enhance my CV and cover letter. One service I particularly valued was the Mentoring Programme, where I was paired with a mentor in my industry who provided creative support and valuable career advice.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course
Outside of my course, I’ve actively explored a range of creative and extracurricular interests. I regularly visited galleries such as the Tate and the V&A, as well as various exhibitions that enriched my artistic perspective. I also had the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands to attend an animation festival, which was a particularly inspiring experience.
During my time at university, I was involved in several societies, including the football team and the Fashion Society. As part of the Fashion Society, I designed outfits for a couple of fashion shows, allowing me to express another creative passion beyond my academic studies. Additionally, I’m proud to have won an extracurricular wildlife photography competition, which was a rewarding recognition of my interest in photography.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
I would encourage prospective students to fully embrace all the opportunities available to them. Actively engage with the modules, attend trips, participate in extra workshops, make use of careers services, join societies, and more. These experiences will not only help you grow professionally in your industry but also contribute to your personal development.
What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?
For me, the best part of being a University of Westminster student has been working in a positive and supportive creative environment. I have been encouraged to experiment with various media and styles and given the freedom to explore topics I’m truly passionate about.
What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?
The most surprising aspect of my Westminster experience was the wide variety of modules that enabled me to explore different disciplines beyond illustration, including animation and graphic design.
