LPC/LLM student
Law LLB Honours – 2021
I now have a first-class law degree - without Westminster's support, I could have never achieved the results that I did.
What are you doing now?
I am currently finishing my LPC/LLM degree at the University of BPP with the aim of becoming a solicitor. My main achievements to date include obtaining a first-class law degree at Westminster. I am still in touch with the work experience officer, Emily, who has offered me opportunities with the NHS and to participate in reciprocal mentoring schemes to improve workplace inclusivity.
What did you find most valuable about your course at Westminster?
I learned that I was actually very creative and am able to come up with original ideas for essay titles. Working on my Entertainment Law Project with Steve Greenfield, as my lecturer, helped to improve my confidence in my work and has inspired me to pursue a career in media and entertainment law.
Why would you recommend Westminster as a place to study?
Westminster is definitely the best University I could have attended. I was illegally excluded from school at the age of 13 and never had the opportunity to pursue a full education. However, I now have a first-class law degree - without Westminster's support, I could have never achieved the results that I did. Jane Stonestreet was the best personal tutor, who always replied promptly and went above and beyond with the amount of support I received.
What was the best thing about being a student in London?
The amount of opportunities there are available for your career pursuits, such as open days at city law firms and networking events. There's also nothing like being in the heart of the capital. There is always something to do and you will never be bored.
What advice would you give someone thinking of pursuing a similar career to you?
Firstly, study Law at Westminster and apply for a position at the Legal Advice Clinic. Make sure that you start work experience early on to gain exposure to different areas of law. Apply for training contracts early and networking events such, as open days and vacation schemes. Always complete mocks and prepare as if they are the actual exam, because the feedback is crucial to helping you achieve a first-class degree.
