Senior Creative / Musician | Born Social

Commercial Music BA Honours- 2011

The people on the course, studio access and specific modules were essential in my development. From building connections and networks, to raising awareness of myself and music, it helped shape where I am today.

What are you doing now?

I am a musician, songwriter and creative working within music, fashion and social media. I am the Senior Creative at Born Social – a social media agency in Shoreditch, London – where I specialise in creating visuals for brands. I am also an ambassador for mental health charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

What did you find most valuable about your course at Westminster? How did the skills you learnt during your degree help you to shape your career?

The people on the course, studio access and specific modules were essential in my development. From building connections and networks to raising awareness of myself and music, it helped shape where I am today.

What was the best thing about being a student in London?

London itself. It's one of the greatest cities in the world and one where you're constantly surrounded by creativity, art and passion. A variety of cultures, backgrounds, it's also the music and fashion capital of Europe – what’s not to love?

What extra-curricular activities did you participate in that enhanced your time at the University?

Although I didn't do any activities via the University, I ensured I used my time outside of University to concentrate on my art, social life and relations, plus charitable work. It's always good to find balance.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing a similar career?

Do it! Do it wholeheartedly and think smarter. Go beyond your means in academia and do the extra legwork as it'll only benefit you. So much of University is what you make of it. If you're not putting in 110%, don't expect to get much out of it that'll set you apart from your peers. Never settle.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself, your achievements, life experiences, what inspires you, or career that may be valuable/interesting to our prospective students or alumni?

I learnt a lot by getting stuck in and being inspired by what people around me were doing – from entertainment law to videography. Absorb everyone around you and ask all the questions.
