How has your experience been studying in London?
Studying in London has been highly beneficial for me as the city offers a multitude of historical and contemporary architecture providing constant inspiration for my course. Being immersed in one of the world’s leading architectural hubs has allowed me to engage directly with live projects, leading professionals, and diverse communities, all of which have significantly enriched my academic and personal development in the field.
Tell us about your course (what have you particularly enjoyed about the programme)?
The Architecture and Environmental Design course promotes a conscious design approach that combines architectural design with a strong focus on environmental performance, sustainability, and energy efficiency, key issues facing the built environment today. The course's interdisciplinary approach encourages experimentation, hands-on learning, and critical thinking, all supported by constructive feedback that continually expands my knowledge. How have you found the academic/ lecturer support as part of your studies?
The academic support of tutors has been crucial in my development throughout my time at Westminster. We aren't just taught how to design buildings; we explore how to create spaces that respond to climate challenges and promote long-term environmental responsibility. From day one, we’re encouraged to think critically about the relationship between design, technology, and the natural environment. All aspects of my course have been designed to interlink and provoke our understanding, with staff bringing a wealth of industry knowledge and research experience, producing new avenues of exploration to nurture our passions. The tutors have been incredibly understanding of all circumstances and always offer to accommodate students.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
The Fabrication Lab is an exceptional facility that enhances the architectural learning experience. It offers access to advanced digital and physical fabrication technologies including 3D printers, laser cutters, and robotics, empowering students to bring innovative design ideas to life through high-quality models and prototypes. The Lab fosters creativity, hands-on experimentation, and the development of technical skills, making it an invaluable resource for those looking to push the boundaries of architectural design. Across the architectural courses, it also serves as a collaborative space where students can explore their ideas using affordable, state-of-the-art tools.

The University Careers and Employability Service provide weekly support opportunities in building your skills, CV and work experience ready for the workplace. Being able to easily access these resources has helped greatly in my preparation for professional work environments.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course (e.g. course related trips, study abroad, sports clubs, societies and any competitions)?
Participating in course-related trips, such as our visit to Edinburgh, has been a valuable experience that extends learning beyond the classroom. These trips offer academic stimulation integrating new perspectives from collaborating academic institutes, alongside strengthening the connections between myself, my peers and my tutors.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
My advice would be to approach university with enthusiasm, curiosity, and an open mind. Westminster offers a rich and diverse learning environment, outstanding academic and creative resources, and strong industry connections. Take time to explore your chosen course in-depth, experiment with new techniques and perspectives, and make the most of the support services available. Westminster has numerous extracurricular activities across all campuses, creating strong relations among peers. By being proactive and fully involved in university life, you will be able to embark on your journey of self-discovery.
What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?
Within the University and across all campuses, I have felt safe and open to ask questions when unsure, with staff and the facilities being incredibly helpful in navigating through university life. My personal favourite has been attending events such as painting, candle making and pottery across the campuses with friends.
