Financial Economics BSc – 2026

It’s a university full of opportunities, not just for studies but for travel as well.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose the University of Westminster because it felt like the right fit for me. Being in the heart of London meant that there would be many opportunities both inside and outside of university life. It felt like a place where I could truly grow, both personally and professionally, and it has so far.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

As a student studying Financial Economics, I have particularly enjoyed how the course mixes theory with practical skills. Being able to use platforms such as Bloomberg, allows us to understand our course in a professional perspective.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic and lecturer support has been really helpful throughout my studies. Whenever I have needed guidance, whether it’s for assignments or understanding certain topics, my lecturers have been approachable and willing to offer extra help!

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The Bloomberg terminals are definitely a standout for my course. They let us work with real-time financial data, which is super useful for what we are learning. Additionally, the library and study spaces are great, with loads of places to work both independently in quiet and socially for group projects.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?

Yes, I’ve used the university’s Careers and Employability service. They’ve been really helpful, especially when it comes to career advice and CV support. I attended a couple of workshops on interview preparation and how to make the most of networking, which gave me some great insights. I also had a one-on-one session where they helped me refine my CV and cover letter, which was really valuable for my internship applications.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

Outside of my course, I’ve been lucky to take part in quite a number of opportunities. I was selected for the Westminster Working Cultures (WWC) Mumbai trip, the Amsterdam Sustainability Programme, and the Copenhagen Business School Summer University, which all gave me so valuable experiences in different areas. I also joined the Scotland Leadership Programme, where I developed some key leadership skills. On top of that, I was part of the Dragons cheer team, which was great as I made friends and tried a society I had never done before.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

My advice would be to really take advantage of everything Westminster has to offer. It’s a university full of opportunities, not just for studies but for travel as well. There are so many programs and trips that allow you to explore different parts of the world, which is something I’ve really valued. Aside from academics, get involved in extracurricular activities, network, and explore London.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

The best of being a University of Westminster student is the sense of community and the opportunities available in London. There’s always something going on, from events to trips abroad, and the diversity here makes for a really dynamic environment.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

The most surprising aspect of my Westminster experience has been how social everyone is. I’ve made so many friends from all over the world, and there’s always something going on. The sense of community here has been really unexpected as definitely made my time at university even more enjoyable.
