Software Engineering BSc Honours- 1999

You’re with some of the best and most open lecturers, the most exciting students and in the most interesting and energetic city in the world.

What are you doing now?

I am in my 6th year at Euromoney, currently as a Development Manager, leading teams both here and abroad to build websites, mobile apps and APIs for our internal business units.

What did you find most valuable about your course at Westminster? How did the skills you learnt during your degree help you to shape your career?

I learned to be mentally disciplined to meet deadlines, accept technical challenges and learn new platforms which has stuck with me throughout my career. Many different languages and techniques were learnt, though most were left behind as technology has changed. The process and earnest learning is still strong.

What was the best thing about being a student in London?

The most diverse place to learn and grow, meet new people and digest so much about the city, the world and so many different points of view.

What extra-curricular activities did you participate in that enhanced your time at the University?

Unfortunately, I did not include myself in much at the time and I regret this deeply. I even missed the Fresher’s Ball! I spent a bit of time at the student bar and began a long-running interest in karate.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing a similar career?

Decide what it is you want to do and head straight for it. Don’t let anything get in your way and say Yes to everything. Learn as much as you can and don’t stop. You will need to keep learning every day in your career as much as at University.

Why would you recommend Westminster as a place to study?

You’re with some of the best and most open lecturers, the most exciting students and in the most interesting and energetic city in the world.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?

Do everything, be open and get as much experience as you can. Placement year highly recommended.
