The best aspect of being a University of Westminster student is that the university provides access to excellent facilities, including a well-equipped library and studio spaces, along with the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners and academics who are leaders in their fields.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
From the start, the University of Westminster was my first choice because of its rich history and convenient location. But it was the open day that truly sealed the deal. Seeing the facilities, meeting the tutors, and learning more about the programme, I just knew this was the right place for me, so I didn’t even consider applying anywhere else!
How has your experience been studying in London?
Studying in London has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The city constantly challenges and inspires. Beyond academics, living in such a diverse environment has pushed me to grow - not just as a student, but as a person. It has broadened my perspective, made me more open-minded, and strengthened my interpersonal skills.
Tell us about your course (what have you particularly enjoyed about the programme)?
What I’ve enjoyed most is how the programme combines technical skill development with creative exploration. The practical workshops have helped me refine my abilities, while the freedom to experiment has encouraged me to push the boundaries of photography. The course also places a strong emphasis on employability skills, preparing us not only to grow as artists but also to succeed in the professional world.
How have you found the academic/ lecturer support as part of your studies?
I am truly grateful for the support and guidance of my tutors. They are always ready to clarify complex questions and encourage creative exploration, making the learning process both engaging and inspiring. Their extensive knowledge, patience, and willingness to help have made a huge difference in my development.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
In my opinion, the photographic department offers some of the best facilities in London. The studios are fully equipped, providing everything needed for both analogue and digital work. The technicians are not only highly skilled but also incredibly approachable, always ready to help with any issues. The printing room is another highlight, offering advanced equipment for producing professional-quality prints. The staff is known for being friendly and responsive, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure students get the most out of their resources and experience.
Have you used the University Careers and Employability Service? If yes tell us about your experience
My experience with the mentorship programme was exceptional. I can’t thank the university enough for providing such a fantastic opportunity. The mentorship programme helped me build confidence and gave me clarity about my professional path. It was a transformative experience that truly made a difference.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course (e.g. course related trips, study abroad, sports clubs, societies and any competitions)?
Outside of my course, I’ve participated in several photography competitions, with the highlight being that I became a finalist for the Sony World Photography Award. While I’ve also faced losses, each experience has been an invaluable learning opportunity - a chance to build resilience, refine my portfolio, and gain exposure. As I approach graduation, I can confidently say that competitions are not only a great way to challenge yourself but also a powerful tool for strengthening your CV while studying.

Take full advantage of all the opportunities the University of Westminster has to offer, whether it’s academic resources, industry connections, or extracurricular activities.
