Economic Policy and Analysis MSc – 2025

You will make friends for life, while improving your employability!

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose the University of Westminster as I previously completed my Bachelors degree here. I was really happy with the campus facilities, the support from the lecturers, and the opportunities to travel during my course, so it was an easy decision to come back and complete my Masters degree at the same place.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I've particularly enjoyed my lectures and seminars from Micro and Macroeconomics modules. They felt more like open discussions than lectures, which helped me understand the concepts and economic models more accurately. Moreover, I believe they provided me with skills and knowledge I will utilise in my future career, which made me more confident when applying for roles in the economics industry.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic support I got during my studies has been exceptional. During my first semester, I was struggling with the Data Analysis module, however, before the final assignments were due our lecturer organised a Q&A and revision session, which really helped me prepare for the deadlines. Also, all lecturers offer weekly office hours and consultations, which gives you the opportunity to ask about assignments, job applications or discuss your dissertation ideas.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

During my course, the campus facilities I used the most were the IT labs on the Marylebone campus. The university provides a variety of computers, such as Windows and Macs, through which you can access your student account and use all the software and programmes provided by the University. Additionally, being a part of the Westminster Business School I was able to use the Bloomberg Suite, which gave me insight into the global financial markets and the data they utilise.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?

I have used the University Careers and Employability Service to find a part-time role both during my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. During my Bachelor’s degree at University of Westminster, I worked as a Digital Marketing Intern, and now I am a part of the Student Ambassador Programme. Currently, I’m using the platform to seek full-time employment after I graduate in Summer!

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

During my time at the University of Westminster, I was able to go to Tashkent, Uzbekistan for a Summer School Hackathon to learn about the introduction of 17 Sustainability Development Goals in Uzbekistan. Through the Westminster Working Cultures programme, I also had the opportunity to travel to Toronto, Canada, and gain first-hand insight into the Canadian job market. The University-funded trip has been a great talking point during interviews and has helped me stand out to employers.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

I would absolutely recommend the University. Do it not only for your professional development but also your personal life, you’ll have the opportunity to make friends for life, all whilst improving your employability in the job market!

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

Being able to study and work at the same institution has been an incredible experience. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here as a student, so it's even better that I can work with alongside my classmates outside of lectures and seminars.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

I was surprised by how many travel opportunities the University has to offer and how easy it is to take part in them!
