Computer Games Development BSc – 2026
Beyond the core knowledge and technical skills I’ve gained, the connections I’ve made, both with classmates and industry professionals, have been invaluable. The course has opened doors to exciting projects and opportunities I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
Looking back to when I was making my university applications, I often think about how different my path would have been if I hadn’t chosen Westminster. It has been incredibly rewarding, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
How has your experience been studying in London?
For someone like me, who grew up on a farm, it has been amazing. I love the balance of a well-organised city filled with great shops, events, and restaurants, while still being able to escape to the beautiful green spaces around Greater London.
Most of all, the people I’ve met at the University have made the experience unforgettable. Even being far from home, I’ve felt welcomed, supported, and surrounded by friends who’ve become like family.
Tell us about your course (what have you particularly enjoyed about the programme)?
As a Computer Games Development student, the last two academic years have felt like a dream. Beyond the core knowledge and technical skills I’ve gained, the connections I’ve made, both with classmates and industry professionals, have been invaluable. The course has opened doors to exciting projects and opportunities I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.
How have you found the academic/ lecturer support as part of your studies?
From the start, academics and lecturers have prioritised student wellbeing and success. Whether the issue is academic or personal, they are genuinely willing to support you. One of the biggest surprises was how close the student-lecturer dynamic is. They keep in touch after class, offering guidance and showing genuine care.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
The facilities that stand out most are on the dedicated Games Lab and the Immersive Development Space. These spaces, designed with students in mind, are equipped with industry-standard technology. I love that I don’t have to rely on my own devices to build projects; the university equipment is powerful, accessible, and helps me maintain high-quality work.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course (e.g. course related trips, study abroad, sports clubs, societies and any competitions)?
One of the best experiences I’ve had was joining the trip to Vienna with the Games Development lecturers and third-year students. Although the trip is usually for final-year students, I was lucky to be invited as a second year.
We worked alongside students from BFI University in Vienna to create a game based on UN Sustainable Development Goals prompts. It was an incredible learning experience—sharing perspectives, collaborating creatively, and building something meaningful together.
On top of that, it helped me form strong friendships with third-year students and build a more relaxed and personal connection with my lecturers, which has made it even easier to seek guidance and support.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
Know what you’re passionate about, follow it wholeheartedly, and don’t look back. Second-guessing yourself will only hold you back—commit to your path and make the most of every opportunity.
What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?
How easy it was to make friends—and how many I’ve made.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your Westminster experience?
Westminster offers so much to both prospective and current students, but what makes it truly special are the people. The students and staff create an environment that feels welcoming, uplifting, and like a place you genuinely want to be. For me, that sense of community has been the heart of my experience.
